ETYMOLOGY
Swimming pools have constantly been evolving throughout history. The word pool comes fromLatin and was originally used to refer to wells with the purpose of keeping both fresh-water and salt-water fish.
HISTORY
The properties of water were already well-known by the old Iberian settlers, from the Roman and Celtic baths. There exists a far-back tradition of artificial constructions dedicated to bathing, among those which stand out are the numerous discoveries of Roman baths, such as those found in the English location of Bath, hence the name given to the city.
