Electrodeionization

Description

Function:
The system consists of series of ion exchange membranes. Within these membranes there are electrodes to which we apply alternating charge. The water passes through a series of anodes (electrode + positive) and cathodes (electrode – negative). This alternating current gives off an oxidation-reduction reaction (redox).

Characteristics:
– Stainless steel base with a plastic front for storing the instruments and control systems.
– Electrodeionization module for continuous desalination of the permeate from the reverse osmosis, constituting a robust storage that contains special selective ion membranes that alternately create the chambers of concentrate and desalination full of mixed bed exchange resin. Two special DC electrodes create an electric field through the chamber.
– Diaphragm valves separated by module to control the EDI concentrate adjust the flow of the feed, sampling valves for the EDI feed and the EDI product.
– Monitoring the pressure using anti-vibration pressure gauges for EDI feed water pressure, EDI concentrate and EDI product.
– Rotameters for EDI feed water, EDI concentrate and electrolyte, controlling the minimal EDI concentrate flow.
– Measuring the product resistivity, in line with temperature compensation as defined by ASTM D 1125-95, measurement range 0 – 20 Mωx cm.
– Control panel with main blocking switch, supply of integral power to supple the voltage to the EDI module, digital display showing current and voltage of EDI module, pressure potentiometer to regulate voltage, protector switch in case of a power failure, activation threshold of 30 mA,
-Warning signs if functioning incorrectly: concentrate EDI flow range below minimum limit, fault in the power feed, low resistivity of water product, common signals for electrical faults.
